An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the gastroenterology team working within Clyde Sector in NHS GG&C. The Gastroenterology Service is recruiting two band 3 healthcare support workers to join the team and provide support to the established team of specialist nurses and Consultant gastroenterologists.  This post is 37.5 hours per week predominantly based at the Royal Alexandra hospital but with the expectation the new post holder will work in collaboration with the existing clinical nurse specialists to facilitate provision of a Clyde wide gastroenterology service. Some cross site travel therefore may be involved.  We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic healthcare support worker with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. You will be required to maintain and develop relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts. You must have a flexible and organised approach and display a passion to deliver quality patient centred and evidence based care.  You will provide support to the existing nursing team to ensure delivery of treatment management plans and planned investigations are carried out. This includes clinical tasks such as venesection, large volume paracentesis, venepuncture and cannulation, as well as tasks which cross between clinical/administrative; i.e database and audit. The role requires you to work with patients, relatives/carers, primary care healthcare teams and GPs and secondary care teams. Following a period of substantial training and support, The post holder will have the ability to work autonomously and have the ability to manage their own workload.  Full induction and training will be facilitated by the current nurse specialist team. This role is an exceptional opportunity for someone to further develop their own skills, whilst adding to the development of the existing gastroenterology nursing service.
