The North Cancer Alliance, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Programme Co-ordinator to drive forward a national benchmarking programme to map psychological support available across Scotland for people affected by cancer.


The role will benchmark current provision available across acute, community and third sector partnership groups across Scotland with reference to the new national framework “Psychological Support and Therapies for People Affected by Cancer.”


The programme coordinator will support the clinical lead to undertake the detailed mapping and convene a national group with the aim of making recommendations on the future service delivery models required to meet the framework across Scotland.


Working with Scottish Government and across the three regional cancer networks (NCA, SCAN and WOSCAN), the key defining aspect of this programme coordinator post are:


  • provide project manager support for Psychological Support benchmarking programme, which will include travel to locations across Scotland


  • strengthen partnership arrangements between acute, community and third sector partners delivering these services at local, Regional and National level


  • identify opportunities to enhance local service delivery including how to match capacity and demand, using the Framework as a model for delivery and measurement


  • identify training requirements across all levels of psychological support and therapies as part of future service delivery models, and work with key partners to develop a plan that will meet these requirements whilst ensuring the Framework is visible in currently available training


  • work nationally with key stakeholders to embed psychological care and support within cancer pathways, and support efforts to embed the Framework in practice and strategic planning


While this role will be based within the North Cancer Alliance, applicants will be able to work remotely with regular travel to NHS, community and third sector premises across Scotland.


The successful applicant will require to be driven and passionate in supporting people affected by cancer, have a high attention to detail and project management skills.
