POST: Medicines Management Practitioner - Guidelines, Policies & PGDs
(Registered Nurse or Registered Pharmacist)
Band 8A 0.6 WTE (22.5hours/week)

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic registered nurse or registered pharmacist to join the Medicines Management team as a practitioner with the lead role in the management of Guidelines, Policies and Patient Group Directions (PGDs) in NHS Grampian.
Working within the Medicines Management Team, Pharmacy & Medicines Directorate you will lead on multi-NHS Board PGD and medicines management projects, responsible for the coordination, development and implementation of North of Scotland (NoS) PGDs and related polices, to improve cost effective prescribing, improve performance and service delivery, ensure clinical governance requirements are met, and to promote quality improvement across all NHS Northern Boards.
You will provide support to a wide range of healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists and doctors, in the development, facilitation, revision and monitoring of Patient Group Directions (PGDs), ensuring that PGDs meet statutory legal requirements. You will be responsible for policy advice, guideline and protocol development as well as implementation and local review of designated policies to ensure service improvement is enhanced, whilst ensuring patient safety, clinical governance and quality are of a high standard.
You will be an excellent communicator who can build strong collaborative relationships with the wider healthcare team with NHS Grampian and across the NoS Boards. The post holder will require to be autonomous, self-directing and continually organise their own workload and time management within the broad parameters set jointly by their line manager.
Office space will be available to the post holder within the Pharmacy & Medicines Directorate at Westholme, Woodend Hospital, Queens Road Aberdeen and the Directorate have a strong commitment to technology enabled hybrid working.
Attendance (virtual or face to face) at national meetings is part of the role, along with an expectation that the post holder and team will be highly visible to those in the service.
