WARD BASED ASSISTANT PRACTITIONER
RAIGMORE HOSPITAL – ACUTE MEDICINE UNIT
Band 4: £23,709 - £25,982
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Ward Based Assistant Practitioners to join our team within the Acute Medicine Unit at Raigmore Hospital.
We are looking for motivated, caring, and compassionate nurses who can work well under pressure who are already experienced or are looking to gain experience within an acute environment
The Acute Medicine Unit (AMU) covers an Acute Assessment Unit, Medical Short Stay/Infection Unit, Ambulatory Emergency Care and Medical High Dependency unit.
The Acute Assessment Unit admits all specialities of patients 24/7 providing a fast paced and interesting environment to work within. Medical Short stay & Infection ward provides care to patients who are expected to have a length of stay of less than 72 hours, focusing on timely discharge and patients with a wide range of Infection related illnesses. Medical High dependency delivers level 2 care.
These posts are to cover in the Acute Assessment Unit although may expand through AMU in time.
You should be able to work well as part of a large and diverse multidisciplinary team & accept direction from more senior staff
Candidates should have excellent care values and a strong sense of team spirit coupled with a sense of humour. Candidates should have enthusiasm to work, learn and develop yourself and colleagues within an exciting and challenging environment.
Hours of work will be to meet the needs of the service, and covering 24/7 period.
Initially it is envisaged the rota will be days/nights & weekends on 11.5 hour shifts.
Ward Based Assistant Practitioners are required to have completed a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7-8 Examples of common qualifications:
· Higher National Certificate/ Diploma (HNC/D)
· Professional Development Award (PDA) at Level 8
Training will be provided
Must have a minimum standard grade pass (or equivalent) in English and two other national grade passes. Must have very good command of both written and spoken English and IT skills. Ideally have experience in an acute healthcare setting.
Immediate Life Support Provider would be beneficial. Demonstrate competence in clinical procedural skills such as venepuncture, arterial blood gas sampling, bladder scanning, male and female urinary catheterisation and recording 12 lead ECGs in order to demonstrate that you have achieved and are maintaining the level of capability & competence required to work at this level.
