The Clinical Psychology Interventions Service in prison healthcare operates within the Adult Mental Health Services of NHSGGC. The service provides psychological assessment and treatment for people with mental disorder who may present a risk of serious harm to themselves and/or others. Referrals to the service are currently accepted from NHS and SPS colleagues, criminal justice social workers and forensic psychologists.
The Mental Health Therapist will be responsible for the delivery of psychological therapies to people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems within the prison environment. Supervision will be provided by a team Psychologist and the post holder will work closely with the wider MDT; The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to the direction and development, of psychological services within prison healthcare.
Minimum requirements- must have a single or joint honours degree in
psychology; 2:1 or above. Specialised knowledge of psychology acquired through relevant NHS experience. Experience of working psychologically
with adults with common mental health problems. The post requires the ability to travel to bases across the Board Area.
