Consultant Psychiatrist – Learning Disability Psychiatry - Dr Grays Hospital

Applications are invited for a part time Consultant post in Learning Disability Psychiatry. The Applicant will work within a community team based in Elgin, Moray and be responsible for medical leadership of a Community Learning Disability Team providing outpatient services to adults with a learning disability in Moray. Catchment populations are based on Integrated Joint Boards and there is close liaison between Community Learning Disability Teams, Social Services and General Practice.  There are a full range of specialist services available in the wider Mental Health and Learning Disability Service including General Adult, Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry, Eating Disorders, Psychotherapy and Substance Misuse.  The service has fully accredited schemes for Core and Higher Training in Psychiatry.  There is an active CPD Programme for Consultants and many opportunities to develop areas of interest.

The applicant will hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (Combined Programme)(CESR(CP) in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability (or be within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR(CP) Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).    

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made. 
Applicants must be eligible for, or be recognised as, an Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP) with regard to the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003. This post is part time (5 Programmed Activities). Informal enquiries are welcome as are informal visits.
