The Surgical and Cardio Respiratory Team


The surgical and Cardio Respiratory Team has had major investment to create new Band 6 posts. 


These new full time posts represent a fantastic opportunity for service development and redesign particularly within the clinical areas of vascular to work closely with Amputees and within the Renal Team.


The Surgical and Cardio Respiratory Occupational Therapy team covers in-patient Respiratory and Cardiac Services, Vascular, Renal, The Scottish Liver Transplant Unit, General Surgery and Gynaecology. 

The team focus is on quality service delivery, best practice and development of our service. 


The successful candidates will be required to deliver:

  • Clinical experience working as an Occupational therapist within an acute or rehab setting.
  • You should have experience managing an acute caseload, including the ability to assess and plan interventions, offer advice and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals.  
  • A high standard of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention skills.
  • There will be a focus on skills to deliver early rehabilitation and enablement to facilitate safe and timely discharges.  
  • Provide direct clinical and non clinical supervision to staff and students. 

There will be a commitment to weekend working in the occupational therapy team at RIE as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.

Support, supervision and development opportunities are available through the Occupational Therapy Site Management Team, Team Lead Occupational Therapist and peer support within the team, from Occupational therapy and other colleagues.
