Edinburgh Cancer Centre - Haematology Services

Western General Hospital

Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist – Myeloma – Band 7

Full Time – Permanent

Based in Scotland’s capital City the Edinburgh Cancer Centre has a worldwide reputation for the provision of high-quality evidence-based cancer care and research. We are currently in the process of submitting plans for a new centre to replace the existing one on the Western General campus.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Myeloma Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver comprehensive specialist haematological care to patients and their families, ensuring the highest standard of personalised nursing care is delivered in partnership with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Haematology In-patient services has recently undergone a significant upgrade to provide 19 single rooms to accommodate the service. The unit provides care for mainly malignant haematological conditions and is the Regional autologous stem cell transplant unit for the South East of Scotland. Additionally, we are aiming to become a centre delivering CAR-T cellular therapy.

Haematology Day Treatment at the WGH provides both systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and supportive therapies to a wide range of both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions; earlier this year the unit moved to a purpose built facility providing care in 18 chairs and a further 12 chairs in an extended day case area to facilitate the transfer of care from an in-patient to out-patient model.

The successful applicant will preferably have experience either within a Haematology or Oncology setting. Leadership and managerial skills are essential and change management and service redesign experience will be advantageous.
