The Communications function within the State Hospital provides a highly specialised service critical to ensuring that the Hospital can explain its work, demonstrate its impact, and engage with a wide variety of audiences.
To enhance our small in-house team, we are looking for a Digital Communications Officer to lead our digital communications, honing and shaping activity to ensure the best use of digital technologies in the design and delivery of services. This includes the provision of engaging and visually appealing content (including podcasts, videos and blogs) across a range of web and digital platforms, and keeping pace with new digital tools, trends and technology.
As our digital designer and lead specialist for visual communication, you will be required to create images and elements that will end up on a screen, whether that’s a computer screen, a phone screen, a dashboard, or any other digital formats. The design may also include audio and sound effects to complement the visuals.
All visual communication must create meaning for the viewer. Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, digital design needs to be usable, with a focus on how users will interact with it.
You will be hands on from the get go with responsibility for developing, managing and evaluating the Hospital’s existing range of digital channels and platforms including the staff intranet, external website, ONELAN screens, social media channels, and other marketing platforms.

Experience
- Highly proficient in developing sites within Sharepoint.
- Proficient in the use of WordPress.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sway and Teams.
- Proficiency in the use of graphic design software such as Indesign, Photoshop and Canva to create appealing visual content for newsletters, social media etc.
- Proficiency in the creation of video using non-linear editing software to create eye catching audio visual content including videos and blogs.
- Understanding of information governance standards and digital security, web accessibility standards and best practice techniques.
- Knowledge of design and print processes.
- Experience in copy writing.
