Senior Theatre Practitioner/ Operating Department Practitioner (Ref: 122782)
Substantive Post, Full Time – 37.5hours per week
Band 6 - Salary Range £33,072 - £40,736 per annum
Distant Islands Allowance of £1,971 per annum
A Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000 is also available.
The Gilbert Bain Hospital is based in Shetland’s main town of Lerwick and provides general medical, surgical, rehabilitation and maternity inpatient services to a population of approximately 22,000. The hospital also has an extensive outpatient department which is supported by Visiting Specialist Consultants, A&E facilities and is the base for the majority of Allied Health Professionals.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Theatre practitioner/ODP to come and join the theatre team.
Do you have previous experience in Anaesthetics/Recovery, or Scrub?
As a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you will have a minimum of 5 years previous theatre experience. (For Anaesthetic Nurse applications you require to have completed your NES Core Competencies)
You will enjoy working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. You will provide a wide range of surgical nursing and specialty care, contribute to the development of the service and provide education and training to theatre nursing team.
You will ensure the theatre environment is safe and effective for delivery of elective and emergency care to adults and children. You will be responsible for liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. This responsibility will extend to care undertaken while organising and fulfilling the emergency on-call commitment for theatre.
There is an expectation that the post holder’s role will include daily management responsibilities in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse.
