Clinical Wheelchair Engineer

Location: NHS Grampian Wheelchair Service, Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

NHS Grampian Wheelchair Service is based in Aberdeen and supports the wheelchair and special seating needs of around 8000 adult and paediatric service users in Aberdeen City and Shire, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. The service has recently seen significant change due to retirement of key personnel and requires recruitment into several roles to ensure the future of a specialist team and the service it provides.

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the team as a senior clinician supporting the engineering requirements of our service users. You must be HCPC registered (clinical scientist) to meet the person specification, but pre-registrants or people seeking registration by equivalence will be considered starting on AfC band 6 salary.

Experience of working in wheelchairs/special seating would be an advantage, but you may be from a range of engineering disciplines. It is essential however that you can demonstrate strong practical ability to design, manufacture, build and modify wheelchairs and special seating as well as bespoke components.

There are many opportunities to be involved in service development and working practices within the service. Enthusiastic attitude and commitment to delivering high standards of care is required of a successful candidate, and you are expected to work autonomously to HCPC standards of practice, whilst also being an excellent team player.

The region offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor leisure activities including coastal and mountain based pursuits.
