Health Improvement Officer (HIO), ACHCSP
1 post – Fixed Term (11 months) – 22.5 hours
Aberdeen City Council (ACC) and NHS Grampian (NHSG) delegate a wide range of adult health and social care services to Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP). We have a real focus on improving health and wellbeing outcomes and enabling people to live at home or as independently as possible and are ambitious to become one of the leading health and social care partnerships in Scotland. The aspirations of our partnership are ambitious, and significant work is required to enable our strategic priorities to be delivered.
We are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has the ability to work flexibly with a range of colleagues and partners to create opportunities for development within the city. You will provide professional health improvement guidance to communities and support multi-agency partners taking forward health improvement activity with communities.
The post holder will work as part of the Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership’s public health team and support the implementation of city wide health improvement initiatives and projects with a specific focus on health inequalities through community engagement, training and project development and coordination.
Candidates should have a relevant undergraduate degree and ideally have a postgraduate qualification in public health or health promotion. You should also have experience of working in the community and of working within a similar environment and be able to demonstrate effective skills in communication, partnership working, project development and evaluation. Evidence of specialist knowledge in health improvement and understanding of the principles and purpose of community development approaches to health and wellbeing is also required.
