An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Scientific team in the Edinburgh Fertility Centre (EFC) in the New Royal Infirmary at Little France, Edinburgh. EFC provides a comprehensive range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of men and women with fertility-related problems. The post holder will be trained in diagnostic semen assessment in the ISO15189 accredited andrology laboratory within EFC. The diagnostic facility provides around 2000 semen assessments for patients in Lothian and the wider areas. There will be additional cross-training for clinical support to the Assisted Conception Programme. The ACP currently carries out 600 cycles of IVF/ICSI annually, as well andrology investigations, surgical sperm retrieval, gamete and embryo cryopreservation and sperm, oocyte and embryo donation. The post holder will also contribute significantly to the collection and input of laboratory data and other support functions. Candidates should have a degree in a Life science, be a registered Biomedical scientist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and preferably have experience in clinical or diagnostic andrology. This is a permanent post.
