The department has an internationally recognised record in research and has links with the Universities of Edinburgh, Dundee and St Andrews providing excellent opportunities to participate in teaching and research. St Andrews has recently established a new postgraduate medical degree creating further opportunities for teaching and course development. In addition, the team is involved with several educational activities in Asia, Africa and the Americas with opportunity to support this work in particular through the Vision 2020 links programme and Arclight Project based at the University of St Andrews.
The department prides itself on allied health professional development to support consultant led services.
