PHARMACY DEPARTMENT
SPECIALIST CLINICAL PHARMACIST - Medicine for the Elderly
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) but part-time may also be considered.
Band 7
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking pharmacist to join the clinical pharmacy team at Raigmore Hospital. The post holder will be based within the pharmacy Medicine for the Elderly team, providing clinical input to stroke, geriatric and orthogeriatic in-patients .
The successful applicant will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, and will have the opportunity to participate in consultant led ward rounds as well as implementing changes and improvements to the pharmaceutical care of the patient group. In conjunction with the Lead Pharmacist, you will have the ability to shape this service and contribute to the delivery and development of the clinical pharmacy role within this area. Opportunities will be available to be involved in the development of guidelines as well as participate in projects.
The post provides many opportunities for personal and professional development. Candidates should have have excellent communication, inter-personal and organisation skills. You should be self-motivated, innovative and able to problem solve and prioritise your workload.
You will be involved in the provision of education and training to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals including undergraduate medical student teaching.
A post graduate clinical pharmacy or independent prescribing qualification is desirable but you could work towards these qualifications whilst working in this role.
This post would suit a variety of pharmacists looking for a new challenge and we would welcome applications from pharmacists within all sectors of pharmacy, as this role would offer the opportunity to build on transferable skills. This is a 1 WTE post working Monday to Friday, but pharmacists looking for part time hours would be considered and the days/hours of work are negotiable. Participation in public holiday, weekend working and on call rotas would be required after training has been given.
