The hours are worked Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

A full time, permanent band 5 assistant psychologist is required for a new Assertive Outreach model within Renfrewshire Learning Disability Service, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This is an exciting new initiative currently being developed which will focus on providing intensive assessment and intervention to the most complex individuals in the community who may be at risk of hospital admission due to mental health or behavioural difficulties and working with those who have recently been discharged from hospital to ensure their successful transition back into the community. Positive Behavioural Support is the primary model of intervention used in the service therefore prior experience in using this systemic way of working with individuals who exhibit behaviour perceived as challenging would be an advantage.

The post holder:

  • will support the psychological care of service users by providing psychological intervention and assessment under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
  • will also be involved in preparing materials, delivering a range of psychological therapies including functional analysis, developing and delivering staff training and formulation sessions, modelling appropriate behavioural management strategies to staff teams in client’s place of residence, attending case conferences and multi-disciplinary meetings and liaising with other professionals. Other responsibilities may involve psychometric assessment, audits, service evaluation, and assisting the work of clinical psychologists and other professionals working in the service.

Applicants should have a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in Psychology.
