NHS Ayrshire and Arran is in a unique position developing and implementing a new Alcohol and Drug Liaison Team within Mental Health Unscheduled Care Service.
There is an exciting opportunity for registered mental nurses (1 x 30 hour and 1 x 37.5 hour) who are forward thinking, motivated with an interest in or experience of working within Addictions to join Ayrshire and Arrans new Alcohol and Drug Liaison Team.
You will join and work alongside the Charge Nurses, Staff Nurses and Team Leader to support the development and implementation of the pathways and processes for the service provision.
As a Staff Nurse within the team with access to supervision you will have effective communication and interpersonal skills, work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Alcohol and Drug Liaison Team. The post holder will be a key link between Acute Hospitals and Addiction Recovery Services and wider care providers.
You will provide assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care relating to Alcohol and Drug recovery using a strength-based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person.
With access to supervision you will have the opportunity to provide learning for Peers, Student Nurses and Medical Students, in both General and Mental Health placements and other Health Care Professionals.
RMN is essential and experience working within an addiction setting or liaison service is desirable. You must be able to demonstrate a level of knowledge and skills relevant to the role and a good understanding of Alcohol and Drug related Strategies and Mental Health Legislation. You will be educated to degree level/or demonstrate clinical experience in areas relevant to this post.
A car driver/owner is essential as the role requires staff to travel to both Ayr and Crosshouse Hospitals.
Hours available: 1 x 30 hour and 1 x 37.5 hour
Alcohol and Drug Liaison is a 7 day service with working hours of 9am -7pm.
