Post 1 - Lead Pharmacist Education & Training (Advanced)

Post 2 - Lead Pharmacist Education & Training (ACTp and Foundation)

We are looking for two creative, dynamic and highly motivated Lead Pharmacists in Education and Training who have an interest in development, design, facilitation and delivery of E&T programme(s) in multiple pharmacy sectors across NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles (H&Is). You will be working within the Highland & Islands Pharmacy Education & Research (HIPER) team.  The working hours are flexible and the base location negotiable.

Post 1 - Lead Pharmacist Education & Training (Advanced) - You will work in support of the educational governance agenda on the following Advanced Pharmacist training programmes: NES Advanced General Practice Clinical Pharmacists (GPCP) Advanced Practice Framework (APF) (supporting the evolution/transition to RPS Core Advanced where necessary) - NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles (H&Is); and RPS Core Advanced - acute service - NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles.

Working within the HIPER team, you will lead on, and be responsible for, development of the educational governance agenda around the delivery of Advanced Pharmacist programmes. These include GPCPs working in the H&Is and acute sector pharmacists working on the island boards, in support of the Board's obligations under the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019.

Post 2 - Lead Pharmacist Education & Training (ACTp and Foundation) - You will also be responsible for the educational governance agenda in support of continued development, co-ordination, delivery and quality of the ACTp Experiential Learning provision for student pharmacists across NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles. You will also lead on and be responsible for development, coordination and delivery of the Pre and Post Registration Foundation teaching in primary and secondary care for NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Western Isles (H&Is).

Beyond this, for both posts, you will also work with other HIPER colleagues to support and develop the educational governance agenda within our other programmes. Note that as both posts are part-time, the job plan does not currently provide clinical sessions.

We welcome applications from pharmacists registered as Independent Prescribers by the GPhC and holding a Master of Pharmacy Degree, or equivalent. You should have significant experience working clinically as a prescriber (i.e. formal postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or pharmacy practice eg PGDip/MSc, NES GPCP Advanced Practice Framework, Advanced Clinical Examination & Assessment (ACE), RPS Faculty, or equivalent).

Experience of teaching essential. You should be an excellent communicator who has the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals. The post holder will need to have experience of leadership, management and research. You will be an excellent role model with an approachable and supportive nature who has the ability to inspire people to achieve their potential and help shape the future of Pharmacy. You must be confident to work independently as well as in collaboration with leads across multiple sectors and board areas to contribute towards the delivery and governance of high-quality education and training.
