What you'll do
This is an exciting initiative offering the role for pharmacists to undertake a practice educator role (previously the Education Development Facilitator role). This post is an excellent career development opportunity and will support in the delivery of NES Foundation Training Year (FTY).
The postholder will support the FTY workstream to further develop and deliver education and training for Trainee Pharmacists across Scotland. Your work will help the Principal Lead and Practice Education Co-ordinators in providing support and guidance to trainee pharmacists and designated supervisors in this workstream. Experience of Foundation training will be advantageous, as will knowledge of the GPhC Initial Education and Training Standards and how these apply to Foundation Training, although this is not required.
You will be highly motivated with a desire to support the further implementation of this exciting initiative. You will work closely with members of the NES team and the wider NES team networks, community pharmacists, hospital and primary care pharmacists, colleagues from the Universities and the wider external stakeholder environment as required.
What you'll bring
You will be a qualified pharmacist with a keen interest in education and training (prescribing qualification desirable although not essential). This provides an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist to expand their career experience particularly for those with an interest in education, workforce analysis and educational evaluation/research at both regional and national level.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain highly effective relations internally and externally with a wide range of healthcare staff and stakeholders is key.
The part-time nature of the post allows time to continue to develop your current skills in practice, while gaining experience in relation to pharmacy education.
