The Paediatric Retrieval Service forms part of the Specialist Transport and Retrieval Service for Scotland – ScotSTAR. ScotSTAR incorporates the Paediatric Retrieval Service, Neonatal Transport Service, Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) and the Air Ambulance Service. ScotSTAR is managed by the Scottish Ambulance Service and undertakes approximately 3000 transfers per year. The majority of transfers are done using dedicated road ambulances with a small number being done by fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, which are provided by the Air Ambulance Service. The teams are composed of experienced transport Nurses, ANP’S, Transport fellows, and Consultants Paediatricians. The paediatric service has incorporated technological advances in paediatric intensive care and has the ability to utilise Invasive ventilation, CPAP and High Flow Therapy during transfers.
The Paediatric Team are looking to expand their Nursing workforce and are looking for a highly motivated individual to join their team. The post will be a band 6 and the post holder will provide high quality care to children and their families during transfer. This vacancy will offer Registered Nurses (adult/child branch), the opportunity to work in a unique setting. The applicant should have extensive paediatric critical care experience working in a PICU.
This permanent post will be within the ScotSTAR team based at Glasgow Airport.
