DUNDEE DRUG & ALCHOHOL RECOVERY SERVICE
CONSULTANT ADDICTION PSYCHIATRY
PERMANENT/FULL TIME
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in Addictions Psychiatry to join our multi-disciplinary community substance use services in Dundee. This position is based within Dundee Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services and the successful candidate will have responsibility for delivering clinical care within the Dundee locality. The administrative base for the post will be within the city of Dundee.

Dundee substance use services are involved in developing innovative and forward thinking approaches at a time of transformation across the service. We aim to be an area of excellence in developing new models to support national strategic directives and the delivery of local priorities.
The successful candidate will be joining a well-established health and social care service, working alongside four Tayside Consultant Addictions Psychiatrists as well as experienced substance use nurses, an expanding Non-Medical Prescribing workforce, dedicated pharmacist input, social workers and substance use psychologists. There is also access to a Substance Use Tier 4 Inpatient facility.
With strong links to the University of Dundee Medical School and the University`s Division of Neuroscience research facilities, there are opportunities for both under and post graduate teaching as well involvement in addiction related research activity. The international award winning HCV research group led by Prof Dillon is also expanding its HCV research base within substance use into wider aspects of the health impacts of alcohol and drug use, and is keen to collaborate. There is an established weekly Continuing Professional Development Programme within Tayside.
Dundee City is a large council area with a population of approximately 148,000. The City of Dundee is undergoing a large scale riverside re-development, as well as having a well established art scene, including the internationally renowned Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and the recently opened Victoria & Albert Museum. There are excellent transport links both north and south to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as easy access to the mountains and glens of the Highlands and the sandy white beaches along the stunning coastline in the East.
You must be registered on the GMC register and be within 6 months of your CCT date at date of interview.
