As a Clinical Nurse Specialist managing patients with Motor Neurone Disease and associated symptoms, you are required to have had significant relevant experience working within the Neurology Service and have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical & psychosocial aspects of care for this defined patient group, previous nurse specialist experience would be advantageous. As part of a clinical team under the leadership of Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality in- patient and outpatient clinic service, targeted patient groups including pre-treatment counselling and screening, monitoring of therapy/clinical response, urgent intervention and admission avoidance consultations. You must have the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills to manage the collaborative telephone advice lines / triage of incoming calls, in- patient referrals, interface with hospital clinicians and general practitioners, delivery of clinical support with a high level of ITC skills. This post will support & facilitate change. You will initially be based between the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital you will work closely with other MND CNS`s and Neurology CNS team members across the directorate to support the existing service where necessary. The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday. It is essential that you are currently a Car Driver who is a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC with significant post registration experience (Desirable) within Neurology. You would be required to have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience including experience of band 6.
