This exciting role will involve working within Midlothian Community Hospital and Highbank/Number 11, Dalkeith, as the Service Manager. Your role will be to operationally lead and manage the NHS and Social Work and Care Services with a portfolio of responsibility across integrated teams and budgets, as well as ensuring efficiency, productivity and performance targets are achieved.
You will provide leadership in the running of the integrated services and influence the future delivery and clinical strategy. You will work with others to ensure professional and service standards are implemented and are integral to ways of working within an integrated service.
You will be accountable for the delivery and standards of care provided to patients in areas of responsibility, ensuring safe and effective, person-centred care, compatible with professional and national clinical standards.
You will lead and manage the ongoing implementation of the integration of community Health and Social Work and Care Services within the Partnership, managing employees and resources within Midlothian Council and NHS Lothian, leading on the prevention of admission and the facilitation of safe discharge, and working in partnership with Acute and third sector colleagues to deliver comprehensive and seamless models of care.
Midlothian Community Hospital & Highbank: The post holder is responsible for management of the staff team 185.78 wte including supporting roles. Covering Midlothian Community Hospital inpatients and oversight of Outpatient services, and Highbank Intermediate care facility (council)
Mental Health and Substance Use: The post holder will operationally manage registered and non registered employees in NHS Lothian and Midlothian Council ranging from NHS Band 2 / MLC Grade 1 to NHS Band 6 or 7 / MLC Grade 10 or 11.
Home First: The post holder is responsible for management of: Social Work In Reach Team, Intermediate Care Team (D2A/Rapid Response – NHS/Council staff), CRT Team, Flow Team NHS/Council staff, Staff will include, Registered professional employees in health (e.g., RGN, RMN, AHPs)
You will be required to have qualifications and knowledge in:
- Registered Practitioner in a Health or Social Care profession
- Educated to SCQF level 11 masters level qualification (desirably leadership and/or management) or equivalent level management and leadership experience.
- Experience of service redesign, development, and evaluation. Understanding of integrated working and of the current social care, primary care, and intermediate care agendas
- Experience of working in an inpatient setting and managing a range of staff groups
- A broad knowledge of related national policy drivers Experience of operational service management within a complex clinical / social care, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience of staff and financial management
- Evidence of continuing professional development Competent in the use of IT.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Awareness and understanding of the national and local policy context and the priorities in relation to OPPC services
- Have the ability and credibility to communicate a vision for Primary Care & Older Peoples/Adult services using ideas and concepts which build ownership and commitment.
Experience of working within an older people environment would be advantageous.
