We are seeking an enthusiastic, self motivated, experienced Biomedical Scientist who is HCPC registered and holds a specialist portfolio or equivalent experience in one of the blood sciences.
Fort William in Lochaber is an area steeped in history with unspoiled natural beauty and opportunities for many outdoor pursuits. There are good links to Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Relocation expenses may be offered to the successful candidate.
The laboratory forms part of the recently developed NHS Highland Area Blood Sciences service. It processes in excess of 50,000 requests per annum covering haematology, biochemistry, blood transfusion and limited microbiology. Requests come from the Rural General Hospital, and GP Surgeries in the local area. You will be expected to rotate through all areas of the laboratory, often without direct supervision, and participate in the non-residential on-call service.
You should have post registration experience in at least one of the blood sciences, and a working knowledge of the theory and practice of a UKAS accredited blood sciences laboratory. Experience of cross discipline working would be an advantage, although some training can be given to allow you to participate in the on-call service. This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, plus on-call.
