This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Senior Charge Nurse in providing expert leadership skills to meet the changing demands within the ASU. The post involves thrombolysis, telemedicine, teaching, education and research. You will be required to work flexible shifts to meet the demands of the service. You will support the SCN in ensuring national stroke standards are achieved as well as promoting the unit as an area of clinical excellence.
ASU is a 24 bedded ward consisting of 14 HASU beds, 6 ASU beds, 4 rapid assessment bays. The post includes cover of the TIA clinics, TIA screening of referrals and assessment of TIA patients in ED and CAU. Currently ASU has 12 additional HASU beds within 3F to support red pathway. The post holder would be responsible to support these beds.
You will ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and person centered care and require to have in-depth knowledge and experience of ASU care, telemedicine, brain imaging and thrombolysis
Applicants are invited from highly motivated registered nurses with in-depth knowledge, understanding and experience of these services.
You will be an experienced practitioner with the ability to rise to the challenge of assisting the Senior Charge Nurse in leading and developing the team.
You will work effectively within the multidisciplinary team ensuring the provision of evidence based care to the highest standard possible.
You will have the ability to assist the Senior Charge Nurse to implement change and actively participate in the ongoing developments, ensuring the team are involved and informed.
To facilitate this process it is expected that you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and time management skills.
Drive, energy and enthusiasm along with a genuine vision are required to take forward this exciting opportunity.
