Manual Handling Advisor
Band 6 (£33,072 - £40,736)
Department: Manual Handling Service (MHS)
Directorate: Lothian Occupational Health and Safety Service (LOHSS)
2X permanent posts:
- Part time (22.5hrs per week) – based at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People (RHCYP) at Little France. This is a pan-Lothian role covering a variety of related services, both inpatient and community for Woman and Children, as well as the Department of Clinical Neurology.
- Part time (15hrs per week) – based at Napier University (Sighthill Campus), providing manual handling education delivery for a variety of clinical course students i.e. Nursing, AHPs.
These exciting opportunities have arisen to join the NHS Lothian Manual Handling Service (MHS).
The post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic registered clinical professional, AHP or Nurse with a degree (or professionally equivalent clinical qualification), with recent relevant clinical experience who is highly passionate and motivated to contribute their specialist knowledge towards delivering both a high-quality manual handling education programmes and onsite competency assessments to NHS Lothian staff, who as clinical professionals, will promote and encourage our main aim, to promote safer systems of work to benefit both patient and staff safety.
The post will require a working knowledge of safe manual handling practice and the application of the principles around Ergonomics/Human Factors.
It is an exciting time to join this growing team in these roles and service to educate and support our Napier University students and NHS Lothian colleagues in the field of manual handling, providing specialist input in education, complex handling situations and raising clinical awareness and improving safe working practices.
You will also have the opportunity to play an integral part of our greater MHS, as we are embracing innovation and are committed through several ongoing projects on driving the MHS forward in terms of service development.
