This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated team at the Marie Curie Glasgow Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Title: Ward Charge Nurse
Salary: Band AFC 6 (£33,072 -£40,736) pay award pending to be aligned with NHS Scotland.
Hours/Contract: 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Based: Glasgow Hospice Inpatient Unit

The post holder will act as leader for a team of nurses and health care assistants within the Inpatient areas and supports the Nurse Manager in delivering the best possible end of life care experience for patients, families, and carers. The service is constantly evolving, and the role will afford the opportunity to influence and shape the future provision of end-of-life care and importantly play a key part in implementing that change.
What we are looking for:
An ambitious individual who can:
- Advocate for patients and confidently work within the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Lead a team of nurses and health care assistant to deliver high-quality palliative care services.
- Support the implementation of change initiatives and embrace new ways of working
- Demonstrate professional leadership qualities that drive performance standards and supports and promotes a positive working environment.
- Ensures active participation in the development of standards, policies and guidelines and their subsequent audit and on-going development. This will be in line with the Hospice’s clinical governance arrangements.
- Provides highly effective communication with patients, families/carers
- In conjunction with the Senior Nurse / Service Manager, plans and maintains appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to meet the care needs of the patient population and is responsible for managing budgets and resources appropriately
- Promotes a caring and sensitive approach to patients, visitors and colleagues.
