An exciting opportunity has arisen for perioperative practitioners in the Same Day Admission Unit within the Royal Alexandra Hospital theatre suite. Our SDAU provides an efficient, patient centered service to our 9 theatres covering a variety of specialties - General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Trauma, Breast and Emergencies and a fantastic state of the art recovery area.   ​​​​​​​The Same Day Admission unit will be a diverse unit ever changing in line with the needs of the service. As a Same Day Admission nurse with us, you’ll be responsible for admitting the elective patients for the theatre suite and assisting with the smooth running of the theatre list ensuring efficient start times and turnaround times. Although part of a team you will work independently organising your own workload.  You will also facilitate the smooth running of our ‘nurse led’ discharge service.  We can expand your skills and knowledge across a fascinating and diverse range of cases. Our new education team will guide and support you whether you are a newly qualified nurse or if you are just new to our department and will facilitate your learning and education development.  You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing. Surgical experience is desirable although not essential. As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of a programme of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients within the perioperative department.  The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. The Same Day Admission unit runs over 5 days (Monday to Friday) As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
