An exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join a large service covering Edinburgh and the Lothians.  We welcome enthusiastic applicants who will contribute to the leadership team and strive to deliver the best possible care for their patients and who wish to be a part of a busy and innovative team.

The NHS Lothian Podiatry Department is a highly motivated team with a vision of a modern, quality service with learning at its core, improving the foot health of our communities.  We are hosted by West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership but the service covers Edinburgh, East, Mid and West Lothian and requires the successful candidate to travel independently within the service area. 

Our Team Lead Podiatrists are active participants in the podiatry leadership team, supporting the strategic and service developments.  Operationally managing a team of staff to ensure the team are supported and enabled in their clinical roles.  There is also clinical caseload which can be in both the clinic and domiciliary settings, providing highly effective assessment and treatment plans to those with wounds, at high risk of foot ulceration and complications, and MSK conditions.  They work collaboratively as part of a MDT providing support to podiatrists and students. 

Applicants should be able to demonstrate effective leadership contribution, operational responsibilities and relevant up-to-date CPD. 

An induction programme is provided and one-to-one supervision is offered to all staff on an ongoing basis.  Staff are actively encouraged to develop their clinical and leadership skills and contribute to service development and quality improvement.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • BSc Podiatry and post graduate qualification (clinical or leadership, equivalent to SCQF level 11)
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Drivers license
  • Relevant CPD and knowledge of Podiatry Competency Frameworks
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Ability to develop team
  • Evidence of decision making skills

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
