Do you want the opportunity to work in a progressive GP practice who are embracing the new style approach of improving patient care through a diverse multi-disciplinary primary care workforce? Do you want to provide first class care while also driving forward the vision for General Practice for the future?

Stonehaven is 15 miles South of Aberdeen, full of friendly people and is an easy commute sited just off of the main A90. Boasting a stunning harbour, with award winning ice cream and fish & chip shops, the world famous Dunnottar Castle, a stunning golf course and open air swimming pool, Stonehaven is a wonderful community to be part of.

  • Diverse, highly skilled practice team

We are a well-staffed, well organised and very welcoming Practice with 10 GPs, 5 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Physician Associates, Practice Pharmacist, Mental Health Practitioner and GP Trainees. We also have additional HSCP input with First Contact Physio and Pharmacotherapy teams.

What can we offer you at Stonehaven?

  • GP Mentorship from Stonehaven Medical Group for the duration of employment

  • Lead GP role for nursing home and palliative care cohorts
  • Dedicated sessions shadowing a range of additional specialist services including GP led ultrasound clinics, cluster medical paediatric clinics, dementia assessment and diagnosis, minor surgery, occupational health medicals, drug and alcohol services, undergraduate training, GPST training and executive partner/management team for management/leadership roles.

The practice has a long history of developing GP leaders and the current partners include the Clinical Director of Primary Care, Hospital Medical Director for Kincardine Community Hospital and NHS Grampian Respiratory MCN Clinical Lead.

We are Scottish pioneers of the eConsult digital first approach to primary care. We believe in using digital healthcare to help us deliver a good balance and blend between traditional and modern General Practice by using our human resources most effectively.

We will provide a stable base for GPs keen to experience working in a larger practice with a diverse MDT while also providing ample opportunities to learn and grow as a GP leader and experience a variety of primary care experiences.

A visit is highly encouraged. We would be delighted to show you around Stonehaven and the GP Surgery. We would be happy to discuss workload, annual leave entitlement, appointment templates, IT systems and anything else you feel would help.

Here is a quote from our outgoing Salaried GP:

"Stonehaven Medical Practice are a cohesive team, who support and value all staff members highly. This support is on a day to day basis with colleagues being aware of each others workloads and giving practical support and advice when needed, but also on a systems level, trying to ensure that systems work well both for staff and patients, and at a practice level, creating opportunities to show staff their value. As an example they have arranged a coffee van and an ice cream van to come for an afternoon to treat the staff.  I have found the Partnership team to have a rare and special attitude in this regard. The practice is busy and work demanding but this is made manageable by team attitudes and support of one another. There is a good mix of patient demographics, a wide age range, opportunities to work alongside one of the nursing homes more closely and develop rapport and relationship to provide better standards of care, and the opportunity to work alongside the local community hospital. MDT discussions are valued and carried out daily. Overall I feel I have fallen on my feet in being given an opportunity to work at SMG!"
