This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and experienced multidisciplinary team who work across Edinburgh working with pregnant women and their partners.
We aim to reduce the impact of parental substance misuse on children, allowing them the best start in life. Working alongside your colleagues from health and social work, we provide outreach in their own home and in the communities in which they live.'
This post is for one year but with possible an extension.
- To provide and develop a service providing specialist substance misuse assessment, treatment and care and advice to a designated caseload of women and their families who misuse drugs and alcohol during pregnancy through to three months post-partum.
- To provide specialist training, consultancy and advice and to promote and co-ordinate care between services and agencies involved in providing services for women with substance misuse problems; including CMHTs, in-patient mental health and general hospital services, non-statutory services, social work teams, GPs, midwives, prison services, locality drug teams and other primary health care staff, and to provide specialist training, consultancy and advice to these groups. There will be particular emphasis on Child Protection.
- To provide a specialist assessment and advice service on substance misuse issues during child protection procedures
- To deliver high quality care and to communicate effectively with other relevant professionals.
- To participate in key decision making processes related to this client group.
