Specialty Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, part time (32 hours per week) post based in West Lothian Civic Centre, Livingston.
The Specialty Doctor in Addictions will work alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist to play a central role in diagnosing, assessing, planning and delivering care and medical treatments to individuals with the most severe and complex diagnoses and needs. This includes the assessment and management of their risks, and the effective and safe provision of complex prescribing needs including management of high-dose prescribing and polypharmacy. Medical staff have overall responsibility for a large Opioid Replacement Therapy prescribing caseload, currently approximately 400 individuals.
There is an expectation of liaison with Primary Care and other clinical services within West Lothian to support their assessment and care for their patients with substance misuse disorders and physical and mental health problems, particularly those with complex needs, those at high risk of harm and those who utilise high levels of community and healthcare resources.
