Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 320 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh. 


The Role

A whole-time post (or part-time) for a Consultant General Physician with an interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology in the Department of Medicine is available within the Borders General Hospital in Melrose. The successful applicant will join the existing consultants in an established and progressive multidisciplinary diabetes service and contribute to further developing the endocrine service. They will also join the general medical team.

 

This position offers an exciting opportunity not only to participate in an integrated diabetes services but also to develop and enhance the strong community emphasis of the current service.  

You would be expected to contribute to the on call General Medical rota (1:16 frequency for full commitment) and have ongoing responsibility for general medical and specialist diabetes & endocrine inpatients.


            Candidates must hold MRCP or equivalent higher qualification and must also be fully registered and licensed to practice on the Specialist Register for Diabetes and Endocrinology & GIM with the General Council, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.   


A relocation package, up to full Inland Revenue limits, is available for the successful candidate(s).
