NHS Ayrshire & Arran Psychological Services comprises of over 100 staff including Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Counsellors, Graduate Assistant Psychologists and Masters and Doctoral Psychology Trainees. The Psychological Service delivers area-wide psychological provision through the Professional Lead for Psychological Services, Heads of Specialty and Consultant Psychology Leads across the Psychological Specialties.
Services are delivered to the population directly through specialist therapeutic intervention with patients with complex difficulties. Psychological Services provides expert advice, consultancy, training and supervision in order to develop the psychological skills of other health and non-health professionals. It also aims to enhance the delivery of psychological care across the whole healthcare system through formal contribution at strategic and planning levels.
An opportunity for two Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology posts to be employed by Psychological Services and work within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The post will be based within the East CAMHS Team at North West Area Centre in Kilmarnock, but sessions may be allocated to the other CAMHS Teams within Ayrshire and Arran and will reflect the need to meet the requirements of children and families in Ayrshire and Arran. The post holder will provide assessment, formulation and psychological interventions to child and young people across Ayrshire & Arran This will include group work and opportunities to give support to frontline staff within schools and primary care through prevention, promotion, liaison, training and consultation. Support and supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist within CAMHS.
You should have an undergraduate psychology degree and a Masters in Applied Psychology (Children and Young People). You must have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in promoting children and young people's mental health.
Given our pan-Ayrshire service across three Partnership areas, a car driver is preferable.
This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 12 months from start date, full time (37.5 hours/week) basis, although variation in contracted hours may be considered. In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, Psychological Services places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest/professional groups and supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist.
