Job Advert

Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist (3 Posts)
Gynaecological Oncology, Urogynaecology, General Obstetrics and Gynaecology

An opportunity has arisen to work in one of the largest Women’s Health Services in Scotland.  NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to recruit three skilled and dynamic consultants to join our award-winning Obstetrics and Gynaecology team. We are conveniently located in central Scotland with ready access to Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as to the Highlands of Scotland and the Borders.

These vacancies have arisen due to two consultants relocating and a new post.  These posts are based at University Hospital Wishaw, which provides all inpatient obstetric and gynaecological care for the population of Lanarkshire.  Gynaecological outpatient and day care services are also provided at University Hospitals Hairmyres and Monklands, and antenatal care is provided at a large number of community Health Centres throughout the county.  There are approximately 4,600 deliveries per year in the Maternity Unit and you will join a team of 18 Consultants.

The Gynaecology Oncology team comprises three consultants, with contributions from general/office gynaecologists and colposcopists in the department. There is weekly participation in the regional MDT network.  We wish to recruit a Consultant Gynaecologist with subspecialist training or special interest in Gynaecological Oncology to further develop this service. We would envisage modifications to the job plan under mutual agreement to reflect the skill set of the successful applicant.

The Urogynaecology service has been developed significantly in the past 3 years, with participation in the regional MDT network.  We wish to recruit a Consultant Gynaecologist with subspecialist training or special interest in Urogynaecology to lead and further develop this service. We would envisage modifications to the job plan under mutual agreement to reflect the skill set of the successful applicant.

The third post is a general job with both obstetrics and gynaecology components.  The precise job plan will be tailored to the skills of the successful applicant but major gynaecology theatre and out-patient hysteroscopy sessions will be available.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr E Ferguson, Clinical Director and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist on 01698 361100, ext 5767.
