Training Programme Director for General Practice
West of Scotland Region

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
Applications are invited from experienced General Practice educators to join the team delivering General Practice education and support within the west region of the Scotland Deanery.
The main role is to promote and co-ordinate quality vocational training for general practice in the West region of the Scotland Deanery with a particular emphasis on programme management and providing support for GP Trainees and Educational Supervisors (ES). This will involve support for ES’s via the local trainers’ group, skills development for established ES’s and intervention with trainees requiring performance support. Within training there will also be substantial input into the ARCP process with the applicant being expected to chair ARCP panels and meet with trainees to discuss requirements.
The post holder will be an educational resource for training practices.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide support and assistance to wider Deanery functions as determined by the GP Director/Assistant Director. This post includes participation in quality management visits to GP Training practices.
This role will involve being an active member of the west region GP TPD group with regular contact and liaison with other Programme Directors and the Assistant Directors as well as colleagues across Scotland.
