ST. COLUMBA'S HOSPICE CARE
Scotland’s first modern hospice, St Columba’s Hospice Care first opened its doors in 1977. Over the years, it has grown and evolved into an exemplary provider of specialist palliative care for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses in Edinburgh and the Lothians annually, while also providing support to their relatives and loved ones. We currently have the following opportunity to join the Hospice team:
Specialty Doctors in Palliative Medicine £45,193 - £84,272 per annum pro-rata (dependent on experience) +
out of hours enhancement
Post 1: 9 PAs per week and on call allowance
Post 2: 7 PAs per week and on call allowance
Available from January 2023
Applications are invited for two permanent Specialty Doctor posts, one comprising 4 weekdays and the other 3 weekdays, both including weekend work (9am-3pm Saturday and Sunday – currently 1 in 10 frequency) and some late (6pm) weekday finishes. There is an additional overnight on-call commitment for both posts, currently one weeknight every five weeks.
We’re committed to delivering the highest standards of hospice and end of life care to people with active, progressive, far advanced illness in whatever setting most appropriate. These permanent posts provide an opportunity to join our highly motivated and innovative multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality care, and will involve rotation between inpatient and community settings. You would be joining us at a key time in our ambitious strategy “Adapting to a Changing World” and would be part of ensuring our services develop to meet the needs of people across Lothian.
St. Columba’s Hospice Care is a leading Specialist Palliative Care Service, providing inpatient facilities for 20 patients, a range of Community based palliative care services and a busy and productive Education and Research Centre. In addition to clinical activities, the successful applicant will participate in teaching and training, and be part of the Hospice clinical governance framework.
Experience in Palliative Medicine is highly desirable but not essential, and applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, with a current licence to practise.
