NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking to appoint a number of enthusiastic qualified Radiographers to join our Imaging teams within the Diagnostics Directorate.
Applications are welcome from new graduates keen to take on their first Radiographer role or already experienced AfC Band 5 Radiographers seeking a new challenge for 2020.
Opportunities are currently available to join our Imaging departments located across each of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Acute Service’s sectors.

Successfully appointed candidates will have the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting across a number of clinical areas providing Radiographic services 24 hours/7 days with rosters including evenings, overnight, weekends and oncall.
Our imaging teams within the Diagnostics Directorate performed 1,183,818 examinations across all modalities in a 12 month period with 929,000 patient attendances.
Within each of our sectors there is cross site rotation based on a ‘hub and spoke’ model enabling staff to develop a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills across scheduled and unscheduled care.
Each sector has a busy Emergency Department and specialist services with associated Mobile and Theatre Imaging such as Orthopaedics, Urology, Surgery, Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Oncology.
There has been significant investment in Imaging over the past few years resulting in state of the art imaging equipment in most areas. There is an integrated Care stream PACS and HSS CRIS across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Diagnostic Directorate enabling central booking for patient choice and reporting flexibility.
A combination of Fuji Computed Radiography (CR) system is used and we have Digital Radiography (DR) from a number of companies e.g.
•Computer tomography (CT) platforms: Toshiba, Siemens and GE
•Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): Siemens, Philips and GE
•Interventional: Toshiba and Siemens and GE
As part of the West of Scotland trauma network The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital will obtain Major Trauma Centre Status in March 2020 with the capacity to provide care for around 1,000 critically and severely injured patients per annum.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to radiography role development and we have one Consultant Reporting Radiographer, two Consultant Sonographers and a team of reporting radiographers, mammographers and sonographers developing their roles in a variety of areas within Imaging such as Ultrasound guided Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and Arthrography.
In addition the Diagnostic Services Directorate is committed to providing post graduate learning opportunities in line with service requirements.
For new graduates keen to take on their first Radiographer role you will require being registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration (or pending).
Successful candidates will benefit from a structured training and induction programme.
As an NHS employed Radiographer you will receive a range of benefits which includes an annual leave entitlement on commencement of 27 days rising to 29 days after five years and 33 days after 10 years and in addition 8 days Public Holiday entitlement per annum.
