Student Dental Nurse (Ref: 130156)

Substantive Post

Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Band 3 – Salary Range £21,709 – £23,603 per annum

(Increasing once qualified to Band 4)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,971 per annum

We currently have an opportunity for a Student Dental Nurse to join the Public Dental Service, working in modern and well equipped surgeries. This is an excellent opportunity to embark on a new career, working with friendly and supportive colleagues and dealing with a varied workload. Based in Lerwick, there may also be opportunity to provide cover in other locations.


We are looking for candidates with a good standard of general education and experience of working with the public. You will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work, good communication and team working skills and the ability to work and remain calm under pressure. We ask Students to make a commitment to work towards their National Diploma in Dental Nursing. This will involve self-directed study in your own time as well as dedicated tutorials outside of normal working hours.


Once you have qualified as a Registered Dental Nurse, your salary band will increase to Band 4 (current salary range £22,927 – £25,223 per annum). We expect Students to sit their examinations to become qualified within three years.
