Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term post until February 2024. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
A professionally qualified librarian is required to work as part of NHS Lanarkshire Knowledge Services team. The post holder supports the Knowledge Services Librarian in providing a proactive and comprehensive library and information service at point of need. The post also provides general administrative support and supports the day-to-day running of the site in which they are based.

The post holder will be required to undertake initial training at the Library at University Hospital Hairmyres and thereafter can choose to work at either University Hospitals Wishaw or Monklands, or at the Health Improvement Library at Law House near Carluke.
The following knowledge, training and/or experience is required:
Essential
- Post requires degree in librarianship and information studies or first degree and postgraduate diploma or equivalent professional qualification
- Experienced in electronic information retrieval, with good level of competence in Internet/database searching
- Understanding of Copyright and Freedom of Information legislation
- At least one year’s post qualifying experience; preferably (but not essentially) in a healthcare setting
- IT expertise up-to advanced ECDL level or equivalent
Desirable
- Knowledge of NHS and its organisation
- Commitment to future training and development
The postholder must hold a valid UK driving licence and own their own car.
