As a Medical Audio Typist you will join the team within Medical Secretarial, University Hospital Ayr.  You will provide comprehensive support service to the Medical Secretaries within the Department and will provide cover during periods of absence.  Experience within a Secretarial environment is essential along with excellent audio typing skills.  You should have a relevant secretarial qualification e.g. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA or Scotvec qualification or equivalent experience.  A working knowledge of the patient management system (Trakcare) and knowledge of Medical Terminology is advantageous although training will be provided.

Primary duties will include audio transcription of clinical correspondence using digital dictation and the use of the patient management system.  Due to the nature of the Department you will have frequent telephone enquiries from patients, relatives and GPs as well as other external and internal agencies.  Good communication skills are essential as this is a busy and challenging post.
