We have vacancies for enthusiastic trained Maternity Care Assistants (MCA) to join the Maternity bank. 

We are a consultant lead maternity unit with approximately 1200 deliveries per year.  The maternity Unit comprises of the Maternity Assessment Unit, which is a 2 bedded assessment area. The Birthing Suite which has 6 en-suite bedrooms, 2 with birthing pools and a bereavement suite. The Maternity ward consists of 12 en-suite bedrooms with home comforts. The team pride themselves on delivering family centred, evidence based antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, support and education to all families. 

The wards are staffed on a 12 hour shift pattern covering 24hours a day. The role of the MCA is varied and encompasses supporting women and families during the antenatal, intrapartum, including theatre floor nurse duties and postnatal period, including supporting with parenting skills and education. A proportion of the role is ensuring the ward is stocked appropriately, clean and tidy and ready for any emergencies that may occur, ensuring all women are offered regular drinks, meals and bed linen changes. Individuals are required to have the Maternity Care Assistance qualification to apply for this post.
