Consultant Interventional Radiologist
FULL TIME (10 PA, including up to 2 PA SPA) / Part-time
Salary Scale - £91,474 - £121,548 per annum (pro rata)

Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Interventional Radiologist to complement the existing team of 13 WTE. This post is full time (10 programmed activities).  Most consultants work these flexibly over 4 weekdays – but those wishing to work less than full time are very welcome to apply.

Interventional Radiologist: This is a vacant post for a Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join the team in NHS Forth Valley with regular sessions and an on-call commitment for the wider region in Glasgow (mainly the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital).

The Radiology Department is a welcoming and cohesive unit; the existing Consultants all have subspecialty interests and Specialist Trainees from both the West and South East Scotland training schemes rotate through the department.  There are good relationships with clinical Consultants throughout the hospital.  Overnight CT is outsourced from 8pm weeknights and 6pm at weekends.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital serves a population of approximately 310,000 and is just over 10 years old, with state of the art digital Radiology equipment.  It is set in attractive parkland, and located centrally between, and within easy reach of, Glasgow and Edinburgh by road or rail.  Their respective airports are little over half an hour from most parts of Forth Valley and road and rail links are excellent. Those moving to the area enjoy low property prices and the option of a city or country lifestyle, and excellent schools whether state or private.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the Radiology department and meet key staff. Informal enquiries should be directed to Clinical Lead Radiologist Dr Nik Arestis (nikolas.arestis@nhs.scot) or Associate Medical Director Dr Sara Else (sara.else@nhs.scot) by email, or by telephone via Department Administration Manager, Karen McMain, on 01324 567003.
You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.  Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

To apply for this post, please visit the job posting on the NHS Scotland Job Train website. Applicants should have full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Applicants will be expected to have a wide range of experience in Radiology and possess membership of the Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent.  Applicants must be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or have a certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at date of interview.  Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent, communication, listening and organisational skills are essential.
