Post: General Manager Acute Services – Surgery & Anaesthetics, Clyde Sector
Grade/Band: Agenda for Change Band 8D
Salary Scale: £88,385 - £92,424 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Tenure/Hours: Permanent – 37.5 hours

Surgery & Anaesthetics - Clyde Sector employs 1,201 wte staff and has a recurring budget is £79 million
We are now seeking an exceptional and inspirational General Manager to join our team.
The General Manager is accountable to the Director for the delegated management and control of resources within the defined service area. The post holder will implement, achieve and deliver business and clinical performance targets in accordance with local, regional, and national objectives specified to the Clyde Sector and the Acute Operating Division.
The post holder will provide operational support to the Director in relation to the efficient and effective delivery of safe patient care, clinical governance, HEAT and performance standards, and contribute widely to operational delivery of the business and clinical service agenda. The post holder will have direct line management responsibilities for department leads within the service area.
Key relationships will be with the Clinical Service Mangers, Lead Nurses, the Clinical Director and the Lead Clinicians as well as colleagues across a range of specialties.
A track record of service delivery in a very complex environment, including experience of line managing a range of professionals is essential.
As General Manager, the post holder will be accountable to the Clyde Sector Director for the operational management of the Specialty area ensuring resources are maximised to meet the Clyde Sector targets and objectives and that service provision. Educated to degree level or equivalent with a demonstrable track record of success in a senior management position within a complex environment, preferably in the NHS and with significant senior management experience, through which in-depth, professional knowledge over a range of disciplines will have been developed. A high level of interpersonal, strategic, technical and person-centred leadership skills is underpinned by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde values and a culture of person-centred care.
