Have you considered an exciting career development opportunity as a Registered nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary?

If you are looking for career development in a compassionate and rewarding environment, where you will be truly valued as a member of our Professional Healthcare Team, we would love to discuss what we can offer you.

We are currently seeking to recruit a band 5 Staff nurse to join the team in our Same Day Admission Unit (SDAU). The unit is operational during the day, Monday to Friday.

Patients attend SDAU on the day of planned surgery for clinical review and assessment. They are then prepared for surgery and subsequently transferred to theatre. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan and implement care safely and efficiently. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to embrace change and deliver excellent patient centred care. Working in this busy department you will gain wide experience in a surgical setting whilst gaining competency in many clinical skills.  The post holder will also rotate onto our Enhanced Surgical Unit (ESU).  This unit is operational 24/7 and consists of 12 beds.  This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly, dynamic and efficient ward that has responsibility for post operative care delivery for patients following general surgery. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and be supported by experienced nurses, clinical nurse specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide essential nursing care. You will be caring for patients on the Enhanced Recovery pathway but also those who have had a prolonged stay in the critical care environment.  The applicant should show commitment to delivery of high quality, safe, evidence based and effective care. You should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.  Applicants should ideally have post registration experience working in acute care and an interest in Surgical nursing however we offer the opportunity of supported learning development for those with limited experience.  This post will require you to rotate through core shifts, twelve hour shifts, night shifts as well as working a variety of shift patterns to meet the needs of our excellent service.  For further information please call SCN Erin Lees on 0141 211 5834
