University Hospital Wishaw is looking for a Clinical Fellows to join its existing team of Anaesthetics, and wider multi-disciplinary team, for a fixed term of 18 months. Start date 1st February 2023
This post would be ideal for gaining further experience in anaesthesia and critical care, or to provide an initial anaesthesia post aimed at gaining IAC recognition with the RCOA.
The Anaesthetics Department is part of the Surgical & Critical Care Directorate, which provides services within a 12 theatre main operating suite inclusive of 2 maternity theatres. UHW is Lanarkshire’s trauma unit providing surgical and anaesthetic services for all adult and paediatric trauma patients requiring surgery within NHSL. University Hospital Wishaw also houses NHS Lanarkshire’s regional maternity unit and the anaesthetic department provides 24/7 resident cover to provide all aspects of obstetric anaesthesia. Our maternity unit has approx. 5000 deliveries per year.
Successful applicants will contribute to the provision of anaesthesia within the main theatre suite, delivery of critical care and obstetric anaesthesia, including out of hours and weekend work. It is envisaged that there will be dedicated time to allow development of a special interest.
University Hospital Wishaw is a district general hospital allowing a varied practice and in addition to above hosts upper and lower general surgery, gynaecology, paediatric services with day case paediatric surgery and trauma and orthopaedic services.
Situated in West Central Scotland, University Hospital Wishaw is readily accessed from a wide area, allowing commuting from city, suburban and rural locales.
