NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest healthcare system in the UK with an annual revenue budget of £3.2 billion, employing around 39,000 staff. We deliver local services to a population of over 1.2 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. The geographical area covered is diverse from the major city of Glasgow, large and small towns, villages and some rural districts and encompasses six local authority areas from East Dunbartonshire to Inverclyde.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Acute Services are delivered currently from three Sectors covering North Glasgow, South Glasgow and Clyde and three Directorates with cross site responsibilities covering Women and Children’s Services, Regional Services and Diagnostics.
The Acute service provides a complex range of Hospital services across the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
We are now looking to appoint a new Clinical Service Manager who will be accountable for the management and control of the South Sector’s Emergency Department (ED) and Assessment Area located in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager the successfully appointed candidate will have a key role for controlling and reviewing the utilisation of all resources and expenditure against planned performance activity.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and highly creative individual who will act as an effective change agent and who will have a key role contributing to service improvements and ensuring that service provision is underpinned by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde values and a culture of person-centred care.
The successfully appointed candidate will be responsible for achieving business performance objectives within quality standards e.g. ensuring that performance targets are achieved such as agreed waiting list and time targets and will contribute to the corporate management of Acute Services through the South Sector’s Management Team. The role will also support the shaping and implementing of service strategies.
The Clinical Service Manager will also provide operational support to the General Manager in the efficient and effective delivery of all services across the South Sector.
Educated to postgraduate / masters degree level or equivalent experience you will require to evidence significant operational management experience in a NHS / Health and Social Care environment or an equivalent, large and complex environment. Applicants will demonstrate strong influencing and leadership qualities with an enthusiastic and self-driven approach that makes a positive difference to patients, services and teams.
You will have the ability to inspire confidence and respect to lead and deliver in a demanding environment. Key to the success of this role will be the ability to contribute to the development of a strong, patient-focused culture which encourages initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication.
