Prison Healthcare is a hosted service of Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership. The Multidisciplinary Team work across the two sites, having a designated Health Centre in each location, the team comprises of GPs, Administration Team, Pharmacy Team, Primary Care Nursing Team, Mental Health Team, Substance Misuse Team and an Enhanced Addiction Team who promote, patient recovery and self management of conditions. The team also includes visiting Dentist, Hygienist, Podiatrist, Optician, and Consultant Psychiatrists for both Mental Health and Substance Misuse.
HMP Perth has around 650 prisoners with an annual turnover of 3000 per year; it is a maximum security establishment, with remand, short and long term prisoners.
The Prison Healthcare Service recognises that the population of HMP Perth Dare individuals with complex health needs. We believe that a stance of pro-active engagement is required to ensure that people are enabled to achieve maximum levels of mental and physical well being, social inclusion and participation no matter of their environment. All applicants must be on the Performers List of NHS Tayside. Participation in audit and teaching of GP registrars is expected.
