The Lead Nurse / Midwife for Medicines Governance provides a new and exciting development opportunity for an experienced nurse or midwife to lead on medicines safety and quality for nursing and midwifery across a range of  acute, community and other care settings in NHS Highland.

The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and be a non-medical prescriber who has a proven track record in successfully leading quality improvement work with a focus on patient safety. Integral to the medicines governance role is the implementation of the Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicine Administration System (HEPMA) in NHS Highland and this post will work closely with their respective HEMPA leads for Medicine and Pharmacy to embed this new system and support the training and development of clinical staff to use the electronic system as part of our digital healthcare agenda.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be confident in the ability to influence and negotiate with colleagues of all disciplines and possess the ability to empathise, enthuse, support and motivate colleagues as they adapt to considerable changes to their working practices. A demonstrable commitment to improving the services we provide to patients is absolutely essential and a knowledge of improvement methodology would be preferable.

Applicants should be NMC registered and must currently work in a senior nursing or midwifery role in the NHS.

This is a permanent position and the base is negotiable.  Applicants should have a full driving licence as some travel throughout the NHS Highland area will be required.
