Speciality Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry

We have an exciting opportunity available in one of the UK’s most up and coming and rapidly developing Cities.

NHS Tayside seeks to appoint a Speciality Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry.  This is a full time permanent post in the regional medium secure unit at Murray Royal Hospital, Perth. 

We are looking for colleagues who are dynamic and keen to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post has great opportunities to be part of service developments and initiatives. Support and encouragement will also be given for professional and career development.  

The successful candidate will provide day to day medical input to a group of patients in the 32 bed medium secure unit under the supervision of a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist. The successful applicant will also be expected to work closely with colleagues to provide cross cover within the clinic.

Applicants should have full registration with the General Medical Council and have evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.  Candidates should also have evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.   Minimum of two years clinical experience in psychiatry is required.  If the successful candidate is not already an Approved Medical Practitioner they will be provided with support in completing the relevant training.
